SiteBox Enclave is an add-on service that allows you to define who can visit your website with just one click.
Enforce rules in the Cloud
SiteBox Enclave’s rules apply before visitors can reach the web server where your WordPress site is located, so that denied visitors will not be able to inspect it.

Frequently asked questions
Is SiteBox Enclave a replacement for Web Application Firewalls?
SiteBox Enclave operates in conjunction with a Web Application Firewall (WAF), functioning at the network’s edge to provide an additional layer of security. This setup allows for the implementation of customised, context-specific rules tailored to the unique needs of the website. These rules are designed to restrict certain users or traffic patterns from accessing the website, effectively blocking potential threats before they can reach the origin server. By doing so, SiteBox Enclave and WAF not only help in mitigating attacks such as DDoS or SQL injection, but also ensure that legitimate traffic is prioritised and the website remains accessible and performant.
In what ways does SiteBox Enclave differ from a Security plugin?
SiteBox Enclave is embedded in the Content Delivery Network (CDN) at the network’s edge, ensuring that filtered traffic does not burden server resources. By operating at this early stage, SiteBox Enclave can efficiently block malicious traffic before it reaches the origin server to maintain performance.
In contrast, WordPress Security plugins become active at a later stage in the request processing cycle after the traffic has already reached the server. These plugins may not filter traffic as efficiently, continuing to consume server resources, and they do not provide comprehensive protection against DDoS attacks. SiteBox Enclave offers a more robust and efficient solution for traffic management and threat mitigation.
What is the default set of rules for SiteBox Enclave?
By default, SiteBox Enclave does not have any rules that limit access to the environment enabled. However, you can easily secure your environment using the SiteBox Dashboard, which provides an intuitive interface for configuring and managing security settings, allowing you to implement customised rules tailored to your specific needs to enhance the security of your web application.
For more detailed instructions and information on how to use these features, please refer to our documentation.
What types of rules can be configured in SiteBox Enclave?
SiteBox Enclave users have the flexibility to configure additional rulesets, allowing them to finely control access to their environment and ensure a solid defence against potential threats. These rulesets can be customised to block access, override existing protections, or permit traffic from specific visitor segments. These segments can be defined based on various criteria such as IP address, IP range, User Agent, or a predefined header, providing granular control over who can access the website.
Other segments can include verified SiteBox Identity users, enabling access for authorised individuals including employees or freelancers associated with the company.
For further details and comprehensive guidance on utilising SiteBox Enclave’s features, please consult our documentation.
Does Sitebox Enclave’s protection extend to the entire environment?
SiteBox Enclave provides protection across the entire environment to maintain the security of your WordPress site. Its granular configuration capabilities allow for the safeguarding of specific paths within WordPress, adding an extra layer of security tailored to your needs, where even sensitive areas or paths can be effectively protected against potential threats.
